South Sudan is a young nation, having attained independence in July 2011. The country has since faced civil war that has dispelled hopes of a stable, peaceful, and prosperous nation. The 11 million who live in South Sudan also face poverty, as four out of five are malnourished and others are internally displaced. However, the first election is planned for December 2024 and the people pray for peace.
LIA started working in Sudan in 2009 and in South Sudan in 2011 and has been growing the program ever since.
LIA-South Sudan Projects
The team is currently working on a project to build the capacity of 15 existing local churches partnering with LIA. Through a refresher course training on wholistic development, the goal is to see these church communities transforming more lives and multiplying the impact of their work with the poor and vulnerable around them.
