Uganda’s unique beauty makes it known as ‘The Pearl of Africa’ and the number one adventure safari destination. It is home to half of the world’s famous gorillas and Africa’s largest lake – Lake Victoria. Over 49 million people live in Uganda and 41 percent of them are below the poverty line. The country also hosts the largest refugee population on the continent as more than a million asylum seekers have fled into Uganda.
LIA is known locally as Love In Action and has been engaged in wholistic transformation development programs since 2017. We were formerly registered in 2020. We focus on impact, multiplication, and sustainability.
LIA-Uganda Projects
LIA-Uganda is implementing an emergency response project for the refugees in Northern Uganda forced to flee Sudan. Over 8,000 of these people have come to the Kiryandongo District since June 2023.
The team is focused on supporting them through:
- Providing integrated support for 1,000 individuals.
- Empowering 200 families through savings and income-generating activities.
- Hosting trainings for refugees and their host communities in rebuilding self-reliance.
- Equipping church members and leaders to provide trauma support, health care, and other support.
- Conducted evangelistic efforts that have led people to Christ.
- Distributed food packs, nutrition supplements, and hygiene supplies for mothers and children.
