DR Congo

DR Congo gained independence from Belgian colonialism in 1960. Since, the country has dealt with political instability and dictatorial leadership. Rebel groups continue fighting in the east today. The Congolese population is growing fast (82M) with 73 percent of the people living below the poverty line.

LIA started serving in the country in 2015, empowering communities through the local church.

LIA-DR Congo Projects

Through a micro loan project, the DRC team is empowering people to financially support themselves. People are learning how to start and grow businesses and are obtaining skills needed to impact their futures for the better. One example of an income-generating activity people have been involved in is goat and pig rearing.
