At the heart of LIA’s history is a twenty-year-old girl from Kenya committed to pursuing God’s calling and following his purpose for her life.

Dr. Florence Muindi is the Founder President and CEO of Life in Abundance. She initially served as a medical missionary since 1995 and has worked extensively throughout Africa and the Caribbean. Florence is married to Festus and they have two sons Jay and Kyalo (late).
Dr. Florence Muindi was born in Kenya, Africa, and graduated from the University of Nairobi Medical School in 1989. She is a medical doctor and holds a master’s degree in public health. She received training in Switzerland and Belgium in specialized public health interventions, holds a diploma in Urban Poor Theology and is also an ordained minister.
“It was two in the morning and I was sobbing uncontrollably. I had been on my knees since 10 p.m. that night. I reached for my diary above the side table of my high school dormitory bed and with trembling hands opened the November 19, 1981 page. Then I took a pen and held it tight as if fearing someone might try to pull it out of my hands. Part of me did not want to do it. But this was the day and the hour. I surrendered all my rights. I gave God all I am and will ever be. I allowed Him to own me. I put an end to my kingdom and ushered in His. Dethroning self and enthroning Christ. I wrote down my covenant with God and signed it, so I wouldn’t forget. I even sealed this covenant with my very life, just in case I was tempted to change my mind. From that position, and with a purpose, I graduated from high school.”
